I use an Olson acoustic (SJ cutaway cedar top model
from 1992). In my opinion, James Olson makes the best
acoustic guitars on the planet!! The tone is so warm!!
James had stopped accepting orders for a few years to
catch up, and he is prepping to open up again.

I also have a Duncan acoustic with a spruce top, which
is a wonderful, local B.C. guitar.

My preamp is a Pendulum preamp, with a 4 band parametric
EQ which sounds great. Years ago, when I got my Olson,
I asked Jim what James Taylor did live with his Olson
acoustic guitar. At that point, James was using Pendulum.
I figured if Pendulum was good enough for James it would
be good enough for me!! Many times, I will have people
come up to me and say, "your guitar sounds so natural...what
do you use for a preamp?" Actually, the key is
mainly in the guitar itself, but a good preamp helps
for live events. I never use any effects like chorus
or anything on my acoustic; in that sense I am a "purist."
I just like real acoustic instruments and the warmth
of wood!
