This song was written on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day as I reflected on the choice I needed to make during a time of transition into a new season. As I was praying and consecrating myself and our family to God, I began to realize how important it is to make this ‘Joshua choice’ on an ongoing basis! I was quite tired and hoping for an easier year to come, and yet I knew God was inviting me to be the father and husband that would hear His voice and obey, and to invite my family to join me in serving the Lord. I played the original version for a missionary friend, Sandy Gage, who has spent most of her life ministering in France; she came up with a helpful lyric change suggestion which is why her name is included with this song!
Joshua 24:15 “. . . But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD ."
Exodus 32:29 For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves TODAY to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day.
Psalm 95: 6-8 Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.
Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts . . . “ |
