Brian's Notes:

This album was my first project after moving to England the previous spring. I should say that producing recordings was not my primary job description during my time there; it was more the "fruit" of building relationships and training the songwriting worship leaders. I do remember the night of the recording very clearly, and having a sense, as it was happening, that this project was one of the main reasons God has brought us across the "pond." The call to worship runs very deep in the British Isles, and when they are awakened to it's call, there is something deeply authentic about their expression of worship. This recording also came at a time in the Vineyard churches in England (and likely in other circles) where they had been singing songs from America and other places for years, but were not sure they could write their own. It was wonderful to see confidence come back, and now we are seeing the opposite! At a recent worship time in the US, I realized that every song used was from the UK, Canada or Australia... interesting! Of course these seasons will always ebb and flow, and we have to flow in the seasons and not work against them, plus there is great diversity among individuals.

My favourite moments personally on this recording are the times when Wendy sings. She has such an amazing voice, and it just draws me in to the heart of what each song is singing. I think because I loved her voice so much, we actually mixed it too loud on the 2nd section of "Come, Now is the Time to Worship." Some people mistakenly thought that her line was the melody (How can you tell it was my first project as sole producer!!) when she switched to a harmony on that part. The melody is led by Wendy in the first section, then in the "One day" section, it's my voice that is singing the melody. I also love Brenton's "Lord Reign in me"!! What a rock solid worship song that is!! It's been neat to hear other people record versions of that song over the past few years and remember the first time I heard that simple 'ghetto blaster' demo!
